Crocheting with Kim

Crocheting with Kim is a virtual event for colleges and other groups.

Kits are mailed to a central location, or to individuals and we then meet up for live lessons (or in some cases, a link is sent to private recorded lessons) while we complete a small fun project in under an hour. (in most cases)

Each lesson is designed to teach a basic stitch or two, how to read a pattern, how to get proper technique and tension on your yarn, and to give you a completed, fun project. Best of all, the skills you learn in that hour will translate and carry forward to serve as a foundation so you can take on larger projects if so inspired.

Hi, I’m Kim Johnson.

Many colleges know me from our “Fun Fotos To Go” business, APCA’s College Novelty of the Year for 2018. I love being on campuses and I truly miss it.

I’ve become friends with so many of the students and advisors over the years and they know I’m passionate about crocheting. We needed to figure out a way for me to connect with the students and advisors again during these strange times.

Usually, if I’m not crocheting, I’m thinking about crocheting by creating patterns or shopping for yarn. I spend a lot of my time crocheting when I am at home, or when we’re traveling in our RV to events. Then it all clicked! I can teach crochet virtually!!

Long before I started traveling with Fun Fotos To Go, I was a stay at home mom and full time school volunteer. Before that, I taught at a small, private career college, something I loved dearly, so teaching adult learners is directly in my wheelhouse.

I’m thrilled to be able to share my passion for crochet AND teaching with others and help you get excited about a new hobby. Together, we will create a cute, fun, easy project that can be a foundation for countless other projects. Though, fair warning, crocheting can become very addictive!
